Episode #27 Sweet and Sour Turkey Drumsticks

Supplies

  • Small bowl
  • Large bowl
  • Large plate
  • Slow-cooker or crock-pot
  • Large spoon
  • Measuring spoon
  • Measuring cup
  • Tongs or fork to help take out drumsticks from pot when done
  • Small knife or tweezers

Ingredients

Sauce Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup sweet and sour duck sauce
  • 1 tbls. ketchup
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • 1 tsp. soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. vinegar any variety
  • 1/2 tsp. brown mustard (optional)

Main Ingredients:

  • 2 Turkey Drumsticks

Procedure

  1. Stir sauce ingredients.
  2. Place drumsticks in large bowl.
  3. Pour boiling water over them.
  4. Then pour cold water.
  5. Check and remove pin feathers with small knife or tweezers.
  6. Place on plate.
  7. With large spoon cover with sauce.
  8. Place in slow cooker.
  9. Pour rest of the sauce in.
  10. Put cover on.
  11. Start cooker on high for about 30 minutes.
  12. Put on low and let cook for 6 – 7 hours depending on your slow-cooker.
  13. Remove drumsticks when done and place on plate.
  14. With fork remove meat carefully in large pieces and discard tendons and skin.

NOTE: Place on serving plate with rest of sauce or serve 1 whole drumstick per person.

If you do not want to use duck sauce use any brand of sweet and sour sauce which may be a little stronger in taste..

    I love to watch your show. Your methods are so straight forward and easy to follow, with uncomplicated ingredients. The results are wonderful, wholesome, home cooking for family and guests alike. I admire you Ms. Bubbe and your grandson as well. I hope my grandson will be as close to me as yours is to you, as he grows and matures. He is 3 now!

    I tried your turkey legs recipe today for dinner . We loved them , the turkey was tender and the sauce super yummy .
